Electricity market volatility increases interest in price stability

5. February 2026

The high electricity exchange price has led many consumers in Estonia to reconsider their choices. In January, when the exchange price reached the highest level in recent years and remained high into early February, interest in fixed-price electricity packages clearly increased.

At Alexela, we see that more and more customers are switching from exchange-based packages to fixed-price ones to bring more certainty and predictability to their energy expenses.

"Right now, customers are primarily looking for price stability, but at the same time, they don't want to give up flexibility. That's why the most popular option has been the six-month fixed price period — it offers short-term security while keeping the option to reassess decisions as the market changes," explains Ester Ausmees, Head of the Private Customer Segment at Alexela.

We have introduced electricity packages suitable for different consumption profiles. Our goal is to provide a solution both for those who prefer security and stability and for those who want to actively benefit from price fluctuations. Essentially, Alexela’s package selection meets the expectations even of the most demanding energy consumers.

For those who want to make a more confident choice, it's possible to explore the packages in more detail and test the most suitable solution for their consumption profile on Alexela’s website or ask our customer service team for advice.
